About
As a young child Joe Allgeier always had something in his hands. Growing up in rural Erie PA, his parents encouraged him to create anything he wanted out of available materials both inside and outside of their home. He would leave piles of in-progress projects scattered around the house but his parents always encouraged his creativity.
Joe is an educator, designer, inventor, and toy maker in Victor NY outside of Rochester. Joe often tells his students “if you want to know about a person, look closely at their hands”. Joe’s hands tell the story of a “maker”.
Stone carver Lothar Jobczyk once told Joe that “if Michelangelo had access to an air hammer (pneumatic stone carving tool), he would have used it”. This principle has led to his belief that whatever tool and material gets the job done most appropriately and efficiently is the right thing for the job.
Joe has evolved from traditional methods of making including stone, ceramics, and wood working to utilizing the unique properties of digital fabrication. His current work exists at the convergence of tradition and technology. As a designer and inventor, Joe has had a great need for digital fabrication and rapid prototyping through 3D printing and laser cutting. He uses a combination of traditional and modern materials in his prototyping process to create objects that have thoughtful forms and appropriate function.
Joe began his company RESKO Safety LLC. in January 2022 with partners Nick Bober and Bhalakrishnan Shankar. They currently are in the research and development phase of several safety product designs including the B-Respirator (TM).
In 2023 Joe published his first children’s book titled “Rooster Training Day”. He collaborated with LaToya Grady to illustrate her children’s book “Luke and the Funny Looking Stick” which was published in 2024. Currently he is in the process of developing his next book for publication titled “The Legend of Kirby the Elf” which he hopes to complete in the summer of 2025.
